The Art Loss Register is a permanent database of lost and stolen art, antiques and collectables. Its range of services includes item registration, search and recovery services to collectors, the art trade, insurers and worldwide law enforcement agencies. These services are efficiently delivered by employing state of the art IT technology and a team of specially trained professional art historians.
Founded in 1991 by the insurance and art industry collectively, the Art Loss Register is today the world’s largest private database of its kind. In its 20 years of existence it has been instrumental in the recovery of over 230 million € worth of stolen items.
AXA ART is a co-founder of the Art Loss Register and actively supports and uses the database. We report stolen works of art, antiquities and collectables to the Art Loss Register, which are then added to the database so long as they are uniquely identifiable.
